West Indian Gherkin

Related to cucumbers and melons but will not cross with either of them. The very sprawling plants look somewhat like watermelons and produce dozens of spiny, green, seedy, 1”-2” diameter fruits. The fruits must be picked immature, when the spines are still soft, and can be pickled or used in salads.
