Runner beans have large showy flowers, usually red or white, and will cross with each other (but not with other beans), so some of ours may not be 100% pure as we weren’t aware of this in the beginning. We have known about this now for a while and are more careful when growing different varieties for seed. Bush runner beans are somewhat earlier and lower yielding than the climbing varieties. Also listed here is a variety that is neither bush nor tall but somewhere in between. The pods are long and plump, and rough textured. The oval seeds are very large and plump as well. Eat as a snap bean when pods are small, or as a fresh or dry shell bean.
White Half Runner is one of the shorter and earlier varieties, and is white seeded.Beans / Runner Beans / Dwarf
Pickwick Dwarf has short runners and red flowers.
