Asclepias incarnata

Milkweed – Swamp Milkweed

Swamp Milkweed normally grows in wetlands in Missouri but seems quite happy in Saskatchewan gardens. The much-branched plants grow 3’—4′ tall with narrow leaves and flowers in tight umbels at the ends of the stems. Flowers are usually pink but this is a mix of pink- and white-flowered cultivars. The pods are attractive and split to release seeds which are carried away by the wind. All milkweeds provide food for Monarch butterflies.
